Python, Big data, et pourquoi tout le monde devrait apprendre à coder avec Joe Jevnik

Publié : Dernière mise à jour :

Here’s one for all of you big data nerds out there. We got to sit down with Joe Jevnik a software engineer at Quantopian.com to talk about Python, data, and why everyone may want to learn to code.

It is all explained in our conversation with Joe Jevnik

Joe works on data integration tasks as part of the Zipline team. If you haven’t heard of Zipline, it is an open source project that allows anyone to try their hand at making a stock trading algorithm. When he’s not there, you can find him working on the Blaze Ecosystem (Blaze core, Odo, Datashape).

In this episode, you’ll learn which non-programming skills correlate strongly with an ability to learn software development. As promised, there is a whole section on Python including common Python developer mistakes and which classes of problems are better off solved by languages other than Python. There are even some left field conversational threads like how using Excel is a lot like programming.

We couldn’t resist talking about technical hiring so we also got Joe’s take on how to verify that someone has what it takes to work as a software developer. To round it all off, you can also hear some reasons to reinvent the wheel, automation’s impact on the demand for software developers, the pitfalls of Enterprise software development, and the role of data analysis in software development.

Joe is a regular speaker at various Python events including PyData, and lives in Boston.
