Java will be the most popular technology in 2024. With 27.15%, Java overtook JavaScript (19.17%), the most in-demand technology in last year’s report. SQL finished 3rd with 8.59% of all assessments, as it did last year.
The 4th and 5th positions are Python (8.01%) and NET/C# (6.92%). While Python maintained its ranking, PHP didn’t make the top 5 technology list this year, conceding to .NET/C#.

This year has seen a reduction in the wait time for completing assessments. In 2022, the average completion time was 2 days and 3 hours, which has decreased in 2023 to just 1 day and 19 hours. This data further indicates that candidates are increasingly keen to engage in the hiring process, likely influenced by the current job market dynamics.

Mid-level developers from the Philippines achieved the highest scores on DevSkiller assessments, attaining an impressive 95%. Following closely behind are Spain (93%), South Africa (92%), Greece (85%), and Uruguay (83%), securing the top five positions for the highest-scoring middle developers.
The competition was fierce last year as the number 10 spot, Argentina (80%), was only 3 percent lower than Uruguay.

Over the past year, our customers experienced a significant uptick in engagement, with an average of 503 skills assessments sent out per customer.
This figure marks a new high, representing a 6.32% increase from the prior year, where the average stood at 473 assessments. Notably, this upward trend has been consistent for six consecutive years, beginning with an average of 115 assessments per customer in 2018, signaling sustained growth in the utilization of our assessment tools.
