What to look for in Groovy developer
The Apache Groovy programming language is a multi-faceted programming language for the Java platform. It is aimed at improving developer productivity through a concise and easy-to-learn syntax. Since the introduction of Kotlin, some would argue that Apache Groovy has been made redundant but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Groovy has an alive and active community that contributes to the Groovy syntax, libraries, and frameworks.
During the screening process, it is essential to determine whether the candidate has experience in developing applications, tools, and libraries in the Groovy language. In addition to this, experience on larger projects, be it, web applications, distributed systems, tooling, or DSLs is a positive sign. Finally, understanding the candidate’s knowledge and application of Java will provide valuable insight into their suitability for the role.

If you’re still unsure about our range of Groovy online tests then just check out what some of our satisfied customers have to say about us:
Ivana Nikolic – HR Manager at ImpacTech
Magdalena Rogóż – Deputy Marketing Manager at Kodilla
What is RealLifeTestingTM and how does it work in Groovy online tests?
The RealLifeTestingTM methodology is the foundation of all DevSkiller Groovy coding tests. Unlike other coding tests that are more similar to algorithmic puzzles or games, the RealLifeTestingTM methodology provides a holistic view of a developer’s skills. This is centered around the belief that to garner a true understanding of a developer’s abilities then tests need to mirror development work they’ll undertake in the real world.
DevSkiller Groovy coding tests require candidates to either build project apps from scratch or build upon existing applications, just like they would on the job. A successful candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the Groovy language and it’s in stack resources, and use other resources available to them in order to complete the tests accurately and before the test duration elapses. The results you see show the candidate’s coding skill, decision making, code cleanliness, and problem-solving skills.
What do you do about plagiarism?
At DevSkiller we take plagiarism very seriously and as such have a number of tools in place to ensure you only receive accurate test results. Tools such as video screen recording to check if the candidate is looking at a different screen when undertaking a test. In addition to this, we use a range of social listening tools, check the candidate’s IP address, and use live pair notifications.
Our plagiarism detector checks the candidate’s entered code, question duration, and the way each question was answered. The answers are automatically cross-referenced with every answer we’ve received in the system and if there is a match we can categorically confirm that the candidate cheated.
What’s the test duration?
Test duration is flexible and depends on your preferences. You have the option to use our default settings or set your own test duration. It is also possible to set time limits for individual questions within a test.
