What to look for in an Ember 2x developer
Ember is an open source framework for building modern web applications and mobile apps. It allows developers to build rich user interfaces that work on any device. Ember 2x (2.0) is the newest version of Ember which introduces even simpler syntax and makes it easier for newcomers to learn the framework.
Ember is used by very popular websites like LinkedIn, Apple Music and Netflix. It allows developers to create scalable single-page web applications.
Your developer will need to know the basics of building web pages using HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Ideally you will be looking for someone who is already comfortable working on the older version of Ember. Knowledge of the framework’s layout and add-ons will be helpful.
DevSkiller’s Ember 2x online tests will assist you greatly in narrowing down candidates for the role of Ember 2x developer. You will be able to gain a full understanding of each candidate’s skills and areas for improvement, to allow you to make an informed decision on who to hire. Our own Ember experts have prepared the tests, meaning they know exactly what an Ember developer should know to be able to succeed in the role.
Like what you see but want more?
Did you know you can build your own custom Ember 2x tests? One of the many advantages of implementing DevSkiller into your company’s screening process for recruitment, is you can tailor the tests to suit your requirements. Change up the language being tested, define the range and difficulty of the tests and even monitor applicants in real-time during testing. These are just some of the options available to you with our custom Ember tests. Have greater control over your recruitment process.
Need proof that our Ember 2x online tests work?
When deciding the best way to invest your company’s finances, it is natural to want some assurances. Check out the following case study from one of our past clients:
StepStone
StepStone operates a group of leading job boards around the world. They have in-house software being developed in approximately 130 countries, which requires a lot of developers. When it came to their developer recruitment however, StepStone was not quite as efficient.
StepStone’s recruitment process used to involve a technical screening consisting of a practical task sent by email, which would then require manual assessment. This was followed by technical interviews which included pen and paper tasks, which then also had to be assessed manually. Not to mention the time taken up with interviews. They decided to implement DevSkiller to help.
Immediately, DevSkiller introduced a phone interview stage to typically eliminate around 10-20% of the initial candidates and then a technical screening test then eliminated a further 10-20%. Already the number of interviews having to be arranged, was reduced dramatically. Not only that, but DevSkiller’s tests are assessed automatically, freeing up a lot of time for recruiters to carry out interviews without having to manually evaluate the practical tasks. Candidates were tested on programming tasks, coding, multichoice questions, code gaps, and database tasks.
““We now have a tool which allows us to not only collaborate to create tests assessing technical skills we need to grow, but also to communicate internally and externally (with candidates). What is more, our technical recruitment process is now more structured. As an example, we
use our technical screening results as a conversation starter during technical interviews.”

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to be a programmer to use DevSkiller?
Devskiller is designed to be simple and as automated as possible. Our tests are ready-made by our IT experts allowing non-technical users to verify the technical skills of their candidates. If you have someone technical available you can prepare your own Ember 2x online tests. Otherwise our tests come programmed with default settings meaning all you really need to do is set up your account and you’re ready to start testing.
What do you do about plagiarism?
We implement various procedures to stamp out plagiarism. It is vital that our test results are verifiable. We can check the answers a candidate enters against previous test results and scan for similarities. If there is a matching code pattern or replicated answer we will know about it. We can use screen recording to check if the candidate is looking at a different screen when undertaking a test and we have a range of social listening tools at our disposal. Meaning any candidate who tries to gain an unfair advantage will be swiftly eliminated.
What do candidates think of Ember 2x online tests?
Candidates love the structure of our Ember 2x tests. For developers, being able to prove their actual skills in a way that is similar to the work they do every day, is refreshing. Most developer tests consist of developers reciting old algorithms and coding patterns. They are tests of memory rather than skill and the answers don’t necessarily reflect the candidate’s development skills. DevSkiller testing is different. We give candidates a chance to use normal coding tools and conventions like unit testing, and cloning to GIT from a personal IDE. Simple testing methods that are the bread and butter of any good developer. Meaning if they are the right candidate, then they will proceed.
What’s the test duration?
Test durations are entirely flexible. Default settings are set automatically, but these can be easily altered to suit your requirements. You can even set time limits for individual questions within a test if needed.
